Social Events
Social activities are an important part of Masters Swimming. We have an active sub-committee who schedule events on a regular basis.
Every training session and every competition is also an opportunity to socialise with other Masters Swimmers in a supportive and friendly environment.
Sunday’s stay for a coffee catch up – After a good swim session, it nice to catch up for a coffee at the café if you want to get to know your fellow members.
One major event for the year is the annual presentation breakfast. There are awards presented, both serious and humorous. The annual breakfast also provides an opportunity to meet members who may not attend your training session time.
Endurance 1000 section
The endurance 1000 program involves medium to long distance swims and is designed for all swimmers who enjoy swimming the longer distances. The Endurance 1000 program consists of a number of distances and strokes, which start with the 400 m. Points are awarded and the ultimate goal is to encourage swimmers to achieve maximum points in all events in a calendar year. Swims (distances 400 m and beyond) which are timed swims that can be undertaken either under competition conditions or supervised by another club member.
The 400 m and 800 m swims which are available for the four strokes and an individual medley, may be swum five times each in different calendar months to gain maximum points. Also points can be obtained for single half hour, three quarters of an hour, one hour or 1500 m swim in freestyle, backstroke or breaststroke. The points gained are supposed to be representative of the swimmers level of aerobic fitness (assuming average technique).
